The Yasser Arafat Foundation organized a seminar in Cairo titled "Egypt and Palestine: The Relationship Between the Palestinian and Egyptian Peoples," bringing together prominent Egyptian and Palestinian figures to discuss the historical, political, and cultural foundations of bilateral relations.

Speakers highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two peoples, emphasizing centuries of shared history, social integration, religious connections, and common national struggles.

They reaffirmed Egypt’s longstanding role as Palestine’s strategic partner and principal supporter, citing its contributions to Palestinian education, institution-building, humanitarian assistance, and political backing.

The discussion also addressed key historical milestones, including Egypt’s administration of Gaza after 1948, military cooperation, and the enduring social and economic links between communities on both sides of the border.

Participants praised Egypt’s continued humanitarian efforts during the recent Gaza conflict and its opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians.

Dr. Samir Ghattas underscored the importance of strengthening people-to-people relations alongside official cooperation, calling for renewed engagement by academic, cultural, and civil society institutions. He also stressed the urgency of achieving Palestinian national unity, preserving the territorial integrity of the Palestinian territories, and maintaining Egypt’s central role in supporting Palestinian reconciliation and statehood.

The seminar concluded with a consensus that the historic partnership between Egypt and Palestine remains a cornerstone of the Palestinian national cause and a vital foundation for addressing current and future regional challenges.
