Statement Issued by the Yasser Arafat Foundation Regarding the Yasser Arafat Achievement Award

2025-04-30

In light of the tragic circumstances faced by our Palestinian people amid the genocide perpetrated against them by the occupation, ethnic cleansing crimes, and attempts at forced displacement, the Yasser Arafat Foundation announces, contrary to the usual procedures for announcing nominations for the annual Yasser Arafat Achievement Award, that for the second consecutive year (2025), the award will be exceptionally designated to support the steadfastness of our Palestinian people and their persistence on their land.

The award committee will, during the period from May 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025, focus on studying and evaluating the organizations working on the ground, both inside Palestine and outside it, especially those supporting and reinforcing resilience and thwarting the plans of displacement. These could be individuals, institutions, or teams from local, Arab, or international entities.

This exceptional measure for the 2025 Yasser Arafat Achievement Award comes in response to the cries of our children, the pleas of our women, and the distress of our elderly, which narrate to the world and human rights advocates the story of an oppressed people. It also comes as a high appreciation for those deserving of this award who responded to the calls of wounded children or grieving mothers, exposed the crimes of the occupier, or supported the justice of our cause and the rights of our people to freedom, independence, and the establishment of their sovereign state to live free and dignified, like all the peoples of the world.

Accordingly, the foundation is honored to receive your opinions and ideas regarding the award for this year (2025) via email at mail@yaf.ps, assuring our people that the winner and the award will be announced on the scheduled date. The award includes a certificate of achievement, a symbolic sculpture, and a monetary prize of $25,000, which will be presented in a special, official, and public ceremony.
